Abstract This paper presents the optimal design of permanent magnet brushless DC (BLDC) motor for electromobility propulsion applications. Two BLDC machines were analyzed: (a) – exterior rotor machine, and (b) interior The optimization both motors structures was executed by Taguchi method. device structure described three variables. functional parameter (efficiency) economic (total mass magnets) included in objective function. have been modelled using a finite element method (FEM). Finally, parameters constructions compared. selected results calculations presented discussed.
